Job Description

Main Accountabilities:


Overseeing company’s operations in Tanzania including:


1)  Business development activities


  •  Establish, promote and maintain strong relationships between the company, its principals, and the company’s customer base in the region
  •  Manage key accounts, service, retain and grow them through maximizing  cross-selling   opportunities for the business
  • Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of principals’ product portfolio and application technologies
  • Understand and recommend pricing requirements based on market trends and account specific knowledge of the region
  •  Design and deploy optimal sales team structure in conjunction with management
  •  Manage sales budgeting and incentivisation in conjunction with management
  • Maintain professional competency of the sales team, manage technical and sales training programs
  •  Implement and maintain sales/distributor excellence tools; Customer & market mapping, Competitor activity mapping, Customer database management, CRM implementation & maintenance
  • Identify business development opportunities in existing and new product lines to consistently and profitably expand the scope of business in the region
  • Develop and execute against an annual business plan for the territory
  •   Consistently meet or exceed established sales targets for the region


2)        Supply chain and Operations

  •   Establish detailed customer volume forecasts on a quarterly basis
  •   Manage order requisitions and in-coming shipments  in order  to ensure  consistent  stock   availability to meet inventory targets and minimize  stock redundancy
  •  Ensure appropriate storage and delivery of inventory as per storage requirements and warehousing procedures
  •  Manage delivery of goods to customer facilities in an efficient and timely manner and optimize the cost of the same to the company
  •   Manage traceability of inventory, ensuring full incoming and outgoing batch traceability
  •  Escalate to Management issues relating to product quality and storage in the event they are compromised
  • Perform ad hoc operational tasks as requested by management



3)   Financial Control

  • Ensure implementation of financial controls to enhance accountability
  • Perform invoicing, customer statement reconciliation and dispatch, and revenue collection with accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain updated customer credit facilities and ensure credit terms are adhered to by customers, minimizing bad debts by ensuring supply is withheld in the event credit terms are exceeded and escalating challenging accounts for credit review
  •  Ensuring complete and consistent statutory compliance in the territory


4)   Represent the company and its principals with diligence, integrity and humility



Key Deliverables


  • The Role will ensure that the key deliverables relating to sales, cost and quality are achieved his/her responsibility:
  • Sales  - delivery on targeted sales
  • Revenue Collection – within credit facility limits extended to customers
  • Cost  - delivery within the approved budge
  • Quality of service  - Timely delivery to the agreed quality of service to the customer


Role related Skills & Qualification :


  •  Bachelors degree in Food Science and Technology or a closely related field
  • Minimum 5 Years experience in the food industry required, including demonstrated knowledge of food formulation and solution provision
  • Ability to provide technical or applications support in the industry
  • Industry experience in customer-facing roles
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the region
  • Sense of urgency
  • Customer service and commercial sales skills
  • Proficient in relevant computer software
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
